âArmed and dangerousâ suspects sought in shooting at Brighton convenience store
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a shooting at a Brighton convenience store.
Brighton police were dispatched just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Chevron at 3597 Jaybird Road on a report of shots fired, said Lt. Kenneth Hooten.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a white Kia Forte and a silver BMW had been struck by gunfire, as well as the store windows.
Hooten said while he was on the scene, he learned a 20-year-old man had shown up at UAB West with a gunshot wound to the hand.
Police then located the victim’s bullet-riddled Toyota Camry in the 900 block of 22nd Street North in Bessemer.
Video surveillance footage from the Chevron showed a black Honda Accord stopped at the end of the parking lot. When the victim’s vehicle approached the end of the parking lot, two to four men got out of the Honda and opened fire.
The victim fled the scene, as did the suspect vehicle.
Hooten said the suspects’ vehicle – the Honda – had been reported stolen. The tag number is AL 4234BL9.
The suspects are believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the suspects, or the location of the vehicle, is asked to call Brighton police at 205-425-8934.
